The Macy Movers Story

Macy Movers is a family business with Mark Macy as the third generation owner. Macy Movers opened for buisiness in 1915 by Art Macy, who started doing local moves in Oakland, CA. As the company grew, Art bought two more trucks with his three sons, Charles, Art Jr. and Jack helping him.

After serving in the Korean War as a decorated sergeant, Jack Macy took over the company in the 1950’s. He eventually teamed up with Atlas Van Lines 1971 to handle interstate moves and eventually international moves. In 2008, Mark Macy, Jack's son, became president of the company which now employs over 25 staff.

Being in the moving business for over 100 years, Macy Movers has supported local communities through various activities. Art was heavily involved with local semi-professional baseball teams, sponsoring, and even coaching for them. Most recently Mark entered the company’s 1937 Chevrolet moving van in The 2016 Arroyo Car Show to raise funds for the school’s athletic booster club.
